Getting Started with Counseling
Engaging in counseling requires a time commitment and a financial commitment. Even more importantly, counseling requires a commitment to learning, growing, and creating meaningful change. Taking a deeper look at the patterns and stuck points in your life can be painful, especially as you uncover root memories and the unprocessed pain that drives current challenges. Your decision to pursue counseling reflects an investment in your own wellbeing.
It’s important that the framework of counseling optimally support you in meeting your goals and moving at a pace that feels safe and effective. This includes considering the length of sessions and frequency of meetings. For most highly sensitive people, longer sessions offer more spaciousness and time for connection, deep processing, and gentle transitions.
Initial Consultation
The Initial Consultation / Assessment Session is 90 minutes in length. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your history, and whether we’re a good fit to work together.
Ongoing Sessions
Individual Sessions can be either 50 minutes or 90 minutes in length. Longer sessions are recommended for trauma processing work, especially EMDR Therapy and IFS-Informed EMDR Therapy.
Intensives
Healing intensives are offered as packages, including 3–4 days of intensive work, a 90-minute to 3-hour preparation session, and a 90-minute follow-up session.
